With the Shrimp Festival just around the corner, we meet as a Club weekly through April and we want to keep our members who didn’t attend the meeting up to date as things move quickly this time of the year.
First of all, please keep Patricia and Cheryl in your prayers as they are both dealing with tough personal issues at this time. With Patricia not at the meeting, and our First Mate in Las Vegas (Luck be a Lady) there were no sign up sheets at the meeting but we did have a great “showing of hands” for ALL of our upcoming events!!!
-Mason’s Refrigeration and Heating will once again sponsor our Little Pirate Contests… so give them a big, “Thank You!” if you see them about.
-T-shirts were ordered from the Shrimp Festival Committee, these are the shirts that also have our Pirate logo on the sleeve.
-No one has applied for the Scholarships yet, but we often have a rush of last minute entries; if no one enters, think of the money we can save! (Arrhh!)
-Sam has powder if you need to purchase a can for personal use, please see him.
-There will be a work party at Smoochie’s on April 17th, at 1:00 p.m. – this DOES count as an in-town event if you need one to meet your membership requirements.
-If you need anything from the warehouse, please give Fillemena a 24 hour notice.
-Marian is chairing the Boat Functions for the Invasions. Invasion times are 9:00 p.m. on Friday night, and 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. If you are signed up to be on the boat, see Marian (Dimps). She still needs a couple of strong, cannon certified Pirates to sign up and come on board and help move the cannons.
-The Best Dressed Adult Pirate Contest (G Rated) has been resurrected and will once again be sponsored by Searchamelia.com (Judie’s Company). Club Members are encouraged to enter… prizes are cash – $100 for First Place, $50 for 2nd, and $25.00 for 3rd Place winners.
-Lawrence is chairing the March up Centre Street – this will be AFTER the Best Dressed Adult Pirate Contest.
-Paulette and Maureen are co-chairing Pirate School – these will be at 3:30 on Saturday, and Noon and #:30 on Sunday during the Shrimp Festival, located in the Kids Fun Zone at Central Park.
-Katie’s Ride For Life is April 16th; there is also a blood drive that day. The Ride starts early, so early shift Pirates will be able to do both events. Kelley is chairing Katie’s Ride if you have questions, please contact her.
Finally, Kit had nearly two dozen folding chairs donated to the club so we no longer have to bring our own chairs to Pirate Club Meetings… please thank Kit when you see him, this removes a huge burden from us all!
Have a great week and remember, we now meet at 7:00 p.m., upstairs at the Maritime Heritage Museum on S. Second Street in historic, Fernandina Beach. (Our final April meeting will be held at the waterfront – bring bug spray!) We hope to see you ALL on April 12th!
